‘Lockdown Birthday Love’ by Maryam Ali

My name is Maryam Ali, I am 5 years old and I have lived in a pandemic for a year now. I can’t wait for life to go back to normal.

Has lockdown changed you? How? Why?

Yes it has been changing me everyday. Me and my brother have become closer. I miss my friends and I play with my dolls and teddies instead. Now my mum and dad have also become my teachers.

What made you smile or brought you joy in lockdown? Can you explain it…

My memories have made me smile, like when I went to Turkey on holiday. We had a nice family lockdown party for my brothers birthday. I love going to the park for family walks and drinking hot chocolate.

Have you changed since lockdown? Tell me why?

Yes, everything’s changed. I don’t like washing my hands all the time or having to be scared of catching corona, or when I had to get tested. I don’t like waiting for this to be over.

What is the story behind your hand art?

My picture shows the celebration we had in lockdown for my brothers birthday. We are going to celebrate my birthday in one week’s time and I can’t wait for all the love and presents I will get on my birthday.

Anything else you would like to share?

I really enjoyed making this picture and sharing my story, thank you.
