‘Separated by Screens’

I am a full time student at the University of South Wales, studying Creative and Therapeutic Arts.

Has lockdown changed you? How? Why?

How lockdown has changed me is the fact that I struggled with my mental health through lockdown because I had nothing to do with my time at the beginning of lockdown, I started to become lost in my own head.

What made you smile or brought you joy in lockdown? Can you explain it?

What brought me joy in lockdown is talking and playing video games over the internet with some of my best friends which always puts a smile on my face because I love them so much and they give me the courage and hope to carry on.

Have you changed since lockdown? Tell me why.

I wouldn’t say drastically changed over lockdown but I have a change in certain aspects of myself for the fact that I learn different skills like for example how to many different activities from Household things.

What is the story behind your hand art?

The story behind my hand art is that the hand coming out of the screen is almost like the hand on my friends coming out of the screen almost like reinsurance that everything is gonna be ok and like to step out of the moment to talk and play video games together almost like escapism, I want to show aspects of growth and progression during this uncertain time. So I had flowers growing out of the computer monitor which are purple alstroemerias and yellow roses which represents friendship and community.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

All I would like to share is that I can’t wait to see the amazing artwork from the so talented and inspiring co-years of my Creative and Therapeutic Arts course.
